Four companies from the mining sector have disclosed open FCPA-related investigations.
One company first disclosed an investigation this week. The other companies first disclosed investigations in 2016, 2015, and 2013.
Two of the companies are based in the UK, one in Canada, and the other in Switzerland.
Countries involved in the investigations include Guinea, Mozambique, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Investigating agencies involved in the probes include the U.S. DOJ and SEC, the Australian Federal Police, the UK Serious Fraud Office, and the Ontario Securities Commission.
A fifth mining company based in the United States disclosed an FCPA-related investigation in 2016. In 2017 the company said it received declinations from both the DOJ and SEC.
