As a groundbreaking risk management tool, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue recently unveiled a new ethics mobile application.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Ethics App provides answers to questions about government ethics issues and is the first App of its kind in the federal government.
The USDA Ethics App brings to users’ fingertips short, easy-to-read summaries of federal ethics rules and Hatch Act limitations on political activity.
The Ethics App is a robust multi-platformed, multi-media application that features an Ethics Library with 15 well-organized sections, a smart glossary (containing plain language definitions of legalistic terms), a search function, and links to other helpful website resources.
The App also provides an FAQ function answering common ethics questions. One of the most distinguishing features of the App is its Video Library with 10 short ethics videos covering a variety of ethics topics. The first video explains the ethics and compliance work performed by USDA’s Office of Ethics.
The App promotes ethical compliance and proactive risk management by providing, on demand, the resources for federal employees to refresh their knowledge of these important rules at any time, whether in the office or off-site.
This innovative mobile application was designed to make compliance with the federal ethics rules a one-stop-shop for USDA employees, but the app is available as a free resource to anyone with Android devices or Apple devices.
To download the Ethics App, either click on the hyperlinks or simply search “USDA Ethics” on the App Store or Google Play.
You can find additional USDA ethics resources on the Office of Ethics webpage on the USDA website at www.ethics.usda.gov.
