Jerry Fang’s scoreboard: Tigers falling fast in anti-graft campaign

China President Xi JinpingThe Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Chinese Communist Party announced at midnight on October 7 on its website that the governor of Fujian Province, Su Shulin, was under investigation for alleged corruption.

Su is the first governor to be removed since the 18th CPC National Congress in late 2012, when President Xi Jinping took power and began his fight against corrupt tigers and flies — high-ranking and low-ranking corrupt officials.

Su became the twenty-third provincial or ministerial level government officer probed this year.

Since the 18th National Congress, seven members of the party’s powerful Central Committee been removed. Another eleven alternate members of the Central Committee have also been fired for corruption.
