Zhong Weifeng, a former researcher of Hainan Provincial Agriculture Comprehensive Development Office, stood trial for accepting bribes totaling $73,900. Zhong admitted to the charges that he took bribes from local branches of the agriculture development office as well as private investors seeking agricultural engineering projects. http://www.chinanews.com

Yao Mugen, the vice governor of Jiangxi province, has been expelled from the party and dismissed from office for accepting huge bribes himself or through his relatives. Yao was in charge of water conservancy projects before his downfall. http://www.ccdi.gov.cn

Liu Xin, former deputy director of Overseas Investment Department of Nanjing Iron & Steel Co., Ltd, received a 10-year jail term for taking kickbacks of $1.4 million from a company acquired by Nanjing Iron. http://www.chinanews.com

A court has upheld a 13.5-year prison sentence handed down to Zhong Mingzhao, former head of Renyi Village in Jiangmen city (Guangdong province) and former legal representative of Renyi Industry Development Co. Zhong was convicted of crimes including bribery, embezzlement and misappropriation involving a total of $870,662. Zhong also traded 144 identity cards and 26 household registration books. http://news.xinhuanet.com

Xiang Shiming, former assistant to the general manager of Sinopec’s Chongqing branch, was sentenced to four years and six months for receiving $23,066 in bribes from petroleum carriers. http://legal.gmw.cn

Former head of Henan province’s Grain Administration, Cao Pusheng, was sentenced to 19 years in jail for taking bribes totaling $110,457 and embezzling $1.3 million in public funds belonging to state-owned enterprises under the Grain Administration. http://news.dahe.cn
