UK says ‘no thanks’ to U.S.-style whistleblower rewards

Regulators in the United Kingdom said Wednesday they won’t adopt incentives for whistleblowers like those in the United States but will help businesses improve their internal reporting and whistleblower protections.

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Bank of England Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) said they welcomed the recommendations of the Parliamentary Committee on Banking Standards (PCBS) about whistleblowing.Continue Reading

Queen’s ex-property manager charged with bribery

The Queen’s former deputy property manager was charged Monday with taking more than £100,000 ($160,000) in kickbacks for royal contracts.

Ronald Harper, 61, a senior member of the Royal Household staff, was accused of taking bribes from building, heating and energy firms in exchange for mechanical and electrical work at Buckingham Palace and other properties, the Mail said this week.… Continue Reading

China urges mandarins to quit private jobs

The Communist Party has urged some 40,700 government officials, including 229 at provincial and ministerial-level, to quit their part-time jobs in private companies.
