Kong Fanmao, former head of Planning Division under the Anhui Provincial Department of Land and Resources, was sentenced to 14 years in prison for dereliction of duty and taking $353,916 in bribes. Kong took bribes from ten mining companies, including Chizhou Dongyang Mining Ltd, to reduce government charges and extend mining permits for them. http://news.xinhuanet.com 

Xu Yijun, legal representative of Guangzhou-based Ba Yi Archives Fixture Co., Ltd, received a two-year jail term for bribing government officials to win the bidding for a procurement contract. Xu allegedly offered $176,177 in kickbacks to Zhang Yongzhao and Chen Guoqiang, two officials at Foshan City Archives Bureau, to provide archives storage facilities for Foshan City Archives. http://news.ycwb.com 

A court is hearing an appeal by Zhao Biqiang, Director of the Science and Technology Bureau of Liwan District in Guangzhou, against his bribery conviction. Zhao was initially sentenced to ten years and three months in prison for taking bribes of cash and gold bars worth $22,787 from technological companies to grant them government funds. He had denied accepting gold bars and appealed the verdict. http://news.xkb.com.cn 

Mei Jiancheng, former deputy mayor of Xinghua city, Jiangsu province, received a ten-year jail term for accepting bribes nearly $50,000. In charge of urban construction, planning and land resources management, Mei allegedly abused his power to approve real estate projects and land-use rights in exchange for bribes. http://kb.dsqq.cn 

Jiang Yongjiu, former head of Hongshan District Parks Bureau in Wuhan city, Hubei province, stood trial for abuse of power and misappropriation of public funds. Jiang was accused of conspiring with other people to misappropriate $6.5 million in state funds and approving massive illegal construction of buildings to defraud government out of relocation subsidies. http://news.cnhubei.com 

Shen Peiping, former deputy governor of Yunnan province, has been removed from his post for unspecified discipline violations. Media reports disclosed that Shen had been accused by local residents of illegally approving relocation projects and undercompensating residents. He also reportedly used armed police force to suppress clashes between local rubber farmers and a rubber plant without authorization. http://www.bjnews.com.cn
