Huang Jianlong, the former party secretary of Rucheng Township in Jiangsu province, was sentenced to nine years in prison for taking bribes worth $261,446. Huang took bribes from Shanghai Life Global Architecture Group and Nantong Zhongtie Huayu Electrics Co., Ltd in return for granting them favors in land deals. http://news.cnr.cn/

Fan Zengyu, former director of the Foreign Capital Project Management Centre of the State Council’s Poverty Alleviation and Development Office, was tried for embezzlement, bribery and fraud involving nearly $9.9 million. Fan had embezzled poverty-aid funds donated by Ding Yuxin, also known as Ding Shumiao, former chairwoman of Beijing Boyou Investment Management Corp. Fan also solicited bribes from Ding to help her build a charitable image and defrauded her out of a great deal of money claiming to rescue her from police investigation. http://news.xinhuanet.com

Xu Long, general manager and party secretary of China Mobile Communications Corp’s Guangdong office, was expelled from the Communist Party for severe discipline violations. Guangdong discipline authorities said Xu had committed crimes by taking advantage of his position to seek benefits for bribe-givers. He will be transferred to prosecutors for criminal charges. http://epaper.oeeee.com

Liu Xueku, former director of Hebei provincial development and Reform Commission, has been placed under discipline investigations. Local officials say Liu’s detention might be connected to his work in Langfang City where he served as deputy mayor during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Last month, an anonymous online whistleblower accused Liu of taking bribes, embezzling public money, illegally approving land use permits, having a mistress and violating the one-child policy. http://www.szdaily.com

You Ruilong, general manager and legal representative of Guangzhou Hongxin Investment Group and director of Guangzhou Hongyun Real Estate Development Co., is under investigation for bribery. Details of You’s crimes have not been immediately announced. You’s membership of the 12th Guangzhou Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference has been terminated. http://politics.people.com.cn

Wang Wen, vice director of the Kunming Institute of Zoology under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), has been removed from his post and put under investigation after screenshots from video footage surfaced online showing his sexual scandal with a woman. Online posts also published allegations that Wang abused the woman by beating and threatening her. http://www.globaltimes.cn
