Juma Al Hinai, the head of the tenders committee at Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) is on trial for accepting bribes from two executives at Omani firm, Galfar Engineering and Contracting.
The executives, Mohammad Ali, managing director of Galfar, and Abdul Majeed Nusha are also on trial but have denied all allegations of bribery. Prosecutors claim they gave Hinai the bribes to extent a PDO contract allocated to Galfar in 2011.
According to reports, the case is part of a wider crackdown on corruption in the Oman’s oil sector.
