Former party chief of Guangdong’s Maoming city, Luo Yinguo, has been sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve for taking over $3.3 million in bribes and owning $8.1 million in unexplained assets. Luo reportedly offered favours to bribe-givers seeking promotions, project approvals and land distribution. 61 officials were investigated for having connections to Luo.
