The Director of the Economy & Information Technology Bureau in Hunan’s Dongkou County, surnamed Yuan, has been arrested for abuse of power and corruption. In exchange for bribes totaling more than $30,000, Yuan and the bureau allegedly helped Nanshui Metals cheat on their application forms for government subsidies. Between 2009 and 2011, the chairman of Beijing Century Huibang Housing Demolition Co., Ltd, surnamed Sui, paid $128,851 in bribes to former deputy director of the People’s Congress in Beijing’s Daxing district, Li Xueyuan to win demolition projects. Guo Tiejun, former chief of the Health Bureau in Guangdong’s Zengcheng city, has been sentenced to 5 1/2 years prison for taking $55,343 in bribes from 20 health officials seeking promotions.
