Meng Jiangtao, a former Dean at the Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, was sentenced to ten years for misappropriating $386,396 and embezzling $43,970 when he cleaned out a research fund and forged signatures to make claims from the school. He confessed to the crimes after a school accountant discovered the financial irregularities. http://www.chinadaily.com.cn

Gao Yujun, former deputy manager of the Shandong branch of Huadian Power International Co., Ltd and chairman of Shangdong Century Electric Power Development Co., Ltd, has been sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve for taking $3.5 million in bribes from contractors.  http://news.xinhuanet.com

Wang Suyi, head of the United Front Work Department in Inner Mongolia, has been dismissed from office pending an investigation into violations of party discipline. Details of Wang’s wrongdoings have not been released but Hong Kong media cited Gu Hua, deputy editor-in-chief of the rural edition of the Henan Daily, as saying that Wang’s mistresses has reported him for taking $16.3 million in bribes. http://qd.sohu.com

The Director of the Economy & Information Technology Bureau in Hunan’s Dongkou County, surnamed Yuan, has been arrested for abuse of power and corruption. In exchange for bribes totaling more than $30,000, Yuan and the bureau allegedly helped Nanshui Metals cheat on their application forms for government subsidies. Yuan was also accused of falsely claiming $16,308 in public funds and taking bribes from multiple enterprises.  http://news.xinhuanet.com

Between 2009 and 2011, the chairman of Beijing Century Huibang Housing Demolition Co., Ltd, surnamed Sui, paid $128,851 in bribes to former deputy director of the People’s Congress in Beijing’s Daxing district, Li Xueyuan to win demolition projects. Sui was sentenced to two years in jail while Li received a life sentence in June this year. http://news.ifeng.com 

Guo Tiejun, former chief of the Health Bureau in Guangdong’s Zengcheng city, has been sentenced to 5 1/2 years prison for taking $55,343 in bribes from 20 health officials seeking promotions. He had appealed an earlier guilty verdict in the same case. 18 out of the 20 bribe-givers were directors of local hospitals. http://www.chinanews.com 

Zhou Fusheng, the former general manager of Hubei Provincial Salt Industry Co., Ltd, has been sentenced to eight years in prison for taking $212,206 in bribes. http://www.legaldaily.com.cn
