Summary: LKG Enterprises was banned from accepting government contracts for five years after its former president Ruben “Sonny” Garcia, Jr. pleaded guilty to conspiring to embezzle federal program funds. Garcia was handed a four-year prison term for conspiring with former Aliviane CEO Cirilo “Chilo” Lara Madrid to bribe Dolores Briones for helping LKG win a health program evaluation contract with El Paso County. Madrid was sentenced to 15 years for his role in the scheme, the longest prison term ever given in an El Paso corruption case. Judge Briones was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison.
