Liu Yuxin, former deputy director of Construction Market Supervision Department of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, received a 12-year sentence and had $48,330 in personal assets confiscated. Prosecutors said Liu solicited $463,968 in bribes from more than ten contractors, including Beijing Field Road Municipal Engineering Group Co., Ltd, Beijing Jingqixin Decoration Engineering Co., Ltd, and Beijing Zhongjian Internet Technology Development Co., Ltd.  http://news.xinhuanet.com

Police caught several Mianchi County (Henan Province) officials gambling in a liquor and tobacco store during work hours. Gao Zhuanjun (Party secretary of Statistics Bureau), Zeng Hui (deputy director of Commission for Development and Reform), and Han Qing (deputy director of Broadcasting and Television Center) were expelled from their Party and government positions. http://news.xinhuanet.com

Sun Yongfa, former chairman of state-owned CITIC Guoan Gold Company Limited, was sentenced to life for embezzlement. According to the charges, Sun sold a mining permit to his company’s investment partner Haosheng Construction Materials Co., Ltd. without authorization for $1.6 million, and funnelled the proceeds into his personal bank account. Chen Jingguang, former deputy political commissar of Public Security Bureau in Zhangping city (Fujian Province), got seven years for corruption and illegal mining. Chen was accused of accepting $32,769 in bribes from Zhangping-based Panluo Iron Mine. http://news.xinhuanet.com

Ren Zenglu, former deputy director of the Standing Committee of People’s Congress in Pingliang city (Gansu Province), is on trial for taking more than $1.6 million in bribes and  having unexplained assets worth $658,757. He allegedly colluded with 16 private enterprises and several promotion-seeking government officials between 2005 and 2012. http://news.xinhuanet.com

He Xiaoqing, former deputy president of Anyang (Henan Province) Intermediate People’s Court, was sentenced to 11 years for taking $87,188 in bribes from defendants in exchange for sentence reductions. http://news.xinhuanet.com

Former director of Salt Affairs Bureau of Yushan County (Jiangxi Province), surnamed Wu, was handed seven months in jail and fined $1,614 for personally profiting from sales of non-iodized salt. Non-iodized salt is banned from entering the market in Jiangxi. Prosecutors said Wu sold 29 tons of natural salt to local shops, earning $97 per ton. Wu was also accused of providing protection to unauthorized salt manufacturers. http://news.xinhuanet.com
