The journalists of the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) risk everything to tell stories about gangsters and graft in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
The OCCRP is a not-for-profit joint program of several regional non-profit investigative centers and for-profit independent media.
Directors include David Boardman of the Seattle Times and Lowell Bergman of PBS’ Frontline.
The organization is a registered name of the Journalism Development Network, a Maryland-based 501(c)3 charitable organization (contributions are tax deductible).
It is or has been supported by grants from the U.N. Democracy Fund, the United States Agency for International Development, and the Open Society Foundations.
Since the OCCRP was founded in 2007, its journalists have won international awards for investigative journalism under duress. And their stories have twice been finalists for the Daniel Pearl Award for international reporting.
Here’s a clip of a few of the organization’s journalists talking about the risks of doing their jobs.

These are really brave people. My hat is off to their work. I read their website. Very interesting stuff. Why don't we see more of this?
