Tesler trial in France adjourned for a year

This just in from ‘French-fcpablog-addict,’ our correspondent in Paris:

I am just going out from the Paris Court and the judges decided to order a disjunction / separation of the file about Jeffrey Tesler because it is a fundamental right to let people be present in order to defend themselves.

There is a French precedent from the Cour de Cassation (the Highest Criminal Court) especially about someone imprisoned abroad.

Nevertheless, it was proposed by the court to hear Tesler through video-conference but he refused and you need the approval of all the parties to roll out such mechanism.

Tesler’s trial is postponed until his release from the U.S. jail (October 2013).

Because Tesler’s sentence includes fixed and conditional terms, it is possible he may seek to finish his sentence in the U.K.

A new hearing is scheduled in Paris the December 11, 2013.
