Proposing an ASIL Anti-Corruption Interest Group

Many readers of the Blog will be aware of the American Society of International Law, a DC-based organization with over 4000 members from over 100 countries.

ASIL sponsors events where practitioners, policymakers, and academics get together to make connections and discuss issues. ASIL has interest groups organized around the biggest contemporary practice areas — human rights, intellectual property, dispute resolution, and more.

And it seems to me that anti-corruption law should be among them.

So I’d like to propose that we establish a new ASIL interest group in anti-corruption law. We’ll use it to network and exchange ideas. We’ll sponsor speakers and debates, to include the thought leaders from both sides of the theory-practice divide. We’ll interface with the media, to help elevate the quality of public discussion.

If you’d like to join, please send an email to Shelia Ward, [email protected], expressing interest in joining the group. We need a critical mass of people expressing such interest if the group is to form, so please make the effort. Once formed, we’ll get to work, organizing people and exchanging ideas.

I’ll hope to hear from many of you!
