Will Indonesia be the focus of new FCPA enforcement activity?
Could be.
The September 20 notes for the past year’s activities of the Security Working Group under the U.S.-Indonesia Comprehensive Partnership Joint Commission contained the following item:
Worked closely with the Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to run joint, parallel investigations, based on the United States Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). In addition, the FBI actively shared policies and procedures and offered training. A KPK investigator recently graduated from the FBI National Academy, becoming the first Indonesian woman to attend.
Presidents Obama and Yudhoyono created the U.S.-Indonesia Comprehensive Partnership ‘to broaden and deepen cooperation between our countries, the third and fourth largest democracies in the world.’
The group has now held three annual meetings.
